Little brides

While organizing my closet, I took out my wedding dress to show the girls. They were so excited and couldn't wait to wear it. Larkin tried it on first and then Willa immediately ran to the back and sat on it. When Willa wore it, Larkin did the same thing. I could not figure out why they wanted to sit on it until a few days later when Larkin asked, "Mommy, did you have strong muscles when you pulled everyone on your train?"

busy weekend

We've had a busy past few days! Joel's birthday was on Thursday--according to the girls he is "firty-two" which sounds a lot like "forty-two", but Joel was always fast to correct them!! They were so excited to decorate the table, wrap presents, and surprise him when he came home from work. I had planned to make a nice dinner and also bake a cake with Larkin while Willa napped, but Willa refused to nap and threw off all our plans! So we headed to Chuy's instead and baked the cake the following day!

Friday night we had a babysitter and met our friends Mitch and Melissa for a night out. We headed to South Congress and saw a Rat Rod car show and then got some drinks nearby. Larkin always refers to Melissa as "Falissa" and she did not understand why Falissa was not coming over to see her!

Saturday we went to a farm in Austin. I have recently started getting some veggies from a CSA farm each week, and they were having an open house and potluck. We walked all the way around one of the growing fields and saw a lot of the vegetables that were in our last few boxes. Larkin even spotted the red lettuce we had for lunch all by herself--"HEY! Here's our lettuce growing in the ground!!" If anyone is interested in checking it out, here's the website--www.jbgorganic.com. We've been really happy with it so far! Larkin says their carrots "taste like candy!"
I wish I would have taken some pics while we were there--the girls were so cute in their sunhats and Willa did her first sack race!

Sunday we went to the Wildflower Center and took some pics in the bluebonnets. I can't even begin to explain how hard it is to:
A. Get the girls to wear something that does not make them look like Punky Brewster. They are BOTH dressing themselves now (sometimes with outfit changes each hour) and are VERY particular about what they wear!
B. Get them to both look at the camera
C. Plan a time to take the pics so that we have good lighting, and no nap or preschool time conflicts

The weeds are starting to catch up with the bluebonnets, so we just threw all my idealistic planning out the window and took some pics at the Wildflower Center. The lighting was terrible and the girls did not like sitting in front of the bluebonnets, so this is the best I'll be able to do this year!

Grandma and Gpa's visit

We had a great visit with Joel's parents this past week. They bought the girls matching outfits, and we had a hard time getting them to wear anything else all week! So if you see the same outfit in most of these pics, that is why!!

Here's Larkin reading George and Martha to Grandma. She has the whole book memorized and thanks to the book, has started to say the phrase "cry my eyes out" almost hourly...as in- "I'm so happy I could cry my eyes out" or "This dinner is so good I'm gonna cry my eyes out."

We went to the trail near our house almost daily, and picked lots of flowers and went wading in the creek.

Easter egg hunt with Willa's playgroup-- Grandpa helped hide all the eggs!

We drove out to Marble Falls and did some strawberry picking. The bluebonnets were out in full force so it was a beautiful drive! We got enough berries to make strawberry shortcakes, 12 jars of jam, and still had extras for snacking!

Lesson learned from Grandpa--don't stick your head all the way through the ladybug hole or it just might not come out!!

The girls love to iron. I must have really made an impression on them with the one article of clothing I have ironed in the past YEAR!

Breakfast with Grandpa.
Every morning the girls couldn't wait to run to the guest room to wake up Gma and Gpa, and then they'd lay in bed together and make shadows with a flashlight.

We took them back to the airport today, and all afternoon Larkin has been saying that she's sad because she misses Grandma and Grandpa and wishes they were still here. Willa didn't understand why she couldn't get on the plane with them!

Thanks for spending your spring break with us, Gma and Gpa! We had such a great time we could cry our eyes out!!
