Land O'Lakes trip
We slipped away from Gma and Gpa for a few days and took a trip by ourselves--it was nice to spend some time as a family and I think Gma and Gpa appreciated a few days of peace and quiet! :)
We went to Land O'Lakes, WI and visited Joel's Aunt Karen and Uncle Bob. We had dinner with them and spent the night, and then the following day they left on a sailing trip on Lake Superior. They said we could stay a few days and use their house, so we did! Their next door neighbor had a girl that was around Larkin's age (with lots of dress up clothes!) so the girls did not want to leave! We had such a relaxing time there-their house is on a lake and the weather was great for swimming and paddleboating.
We also went to popular place for a fish fry up there--a place called Bent's Camp. It's a resort with a restaurant, and everyone told us to get there early because it fills up fast. We were there by 5:00 and the wait was already over an hour! The restaurant was right on the lake though so we just relaxed in the grass while the girls did some stump jumping and boat watching! The place was definitely worth the wait--it was the best fish fry either of us had ever had.
We also did a day trip from Land O'Lakes to Bond Falls in Michigan. It was beautiful and had lots of walking trails to explore. I learned that if the girls are presented with a smooth walking trail or a rocky area with huge bolders next to a walking trail, they will ALWAYS pick the road less traveled. Hmm...wonder who taught them that?!
